Our chosen theme was designed to offer the broadest opportunity to bring together local communities and build a strong community spirit.
Themed Procession
Every year an enthusiastic collection of local groups spend their time creating elaborate themed costumes & dress up to parade through the village. Dozens of children & adults come together to kick-off the start of the Carnival by joining in our themed procession and many, many more line the roads to encourage them along. Scarecrow Festival
Our Scarecrow festival takes place from June 1st until the Carnival on June 21st. Following the success in recent years, the Scarecrow festival has no theme and no competition. It’s just for fun and the enjoyment of the community. You can find out more here.
​Food and Drink
Indulge in a wide range of local food and beverages at the carnival. From street food to sweet treats, there's something for every taste bud!
Family Activities
There’s so much for all the family to enjoy on Carnival Day. Watch the procession, throw an axe, shoot an arrow, buy a gift, meet local community groups, take time to sample the great food/drink stands or just relax, have a picture next to one of the stunning vintage cars on display.
Carnival Stalls
Lots of different groups and societies exhibit at the Carnival giving visitors the opportunity to find out more about each organisation and see how they can support or get involved in activities. Come and find out more about the diverse communities offering something for everyone.
Our Celebrity Guest
We are currently looking for a celebrity guest to open the 2025 Carnival.

Join Our Scarecrow Festival
1 - 21 June 2025
Looking for something to do over a weekend? Why not get creative and make a Scarecrow! For those struggling for ideas, you may like to use the Carnival procession theme as inspiration.
A checklist and map will be available on our Facebook page as soon as we hear of the Scarecrows locations. It’s never too late to display your Scarecrow, we will continue to share updated versions of the checklist and map throughout the festival.
Once your Scarecrow is on display, please lets us know the name of your Scarecrow entry, the road in which it’s on display and send us a photo of the Scarecrow that you don’t mind being shared on social media. Scarecrow entries can be submitted to the Carnival Committee via our Facebook page or by email: oldbasingcarnival@gmail.com
